ART PLUS Issue #8
Deer Team Deer are one of the main modes of transport for the northern peoples. Deer teams, as well as dog sleds, are widely used when moving around tundra and transporting goods. Deer sledges have their own peculiar features – their carrying capacity is lower than that of dog sleds, but so are the expenses on fodder for the animals, combined with much higher maneuverability. For instance, while one dog needs about one 1 kg of food a day, deer forage for themselves and only sometimes – when weather conditions are particularly severe – need extra feeding. Deer also have multiple advantages over horses. PRO voyage 2014 march - april art plus
